My photography and images attempt to capture and define glimpses or moments in time. Through bold composition and primitive elements images are made transformational. Viewing iconic figures and places from new angles and a crisp modern sensibility define my photography.
Working with various medium combinations such as encaustic and digital photography, I seek the culturally unique yet universal images exposed to me through travel and experience. I am interested in creating or alluding to a physical surface sensibility or dimensionality in my painting and photography. Attempting to capture the beauty of a given moment in time and share that sense of it informs my body of work.
Born in Houston, Texas, artist and photographer Jules Woods graduated from the University of Houston and studied art at the University of London and the Courtauld Institute in London. In her own work she has focused primarily on using photography and encaustic to communicate her personal artistic and creative expression. She finds inspiration from iconic structures, natural elements such as water and light, as well as, from uniquely compelling places. Her images, which are exhibited regularly, express her intensely creative vision.
