Catherine Richards is inspired by the beauty and whimsy of everyday life. "Much of my work contains images of everyday objects and scenes which often go unnoticed." An avid traveler, she finds delight and inspiration in the beauty of different cultures. Always searching for open-air markets, her diverse collection of found objects includes antique gilt work, snow globes, clock faces, wrought iron gates, vintage terra cotta planters, toys, masks, postcards and tin noise makers.
Her extraordinary paintings surprise with unexpected hits of color. Inspired by artists David Hockney, Van Gogh, Wayne Thiebaud and Robert Bechtle, Catherine's pieces have been shown in public and private collections throughout the United States. A former art director and graphic designer, she lives on the Westcoast with her husband and three children.
