Meili spent her childhood years in the Old Town of Lijiang in Yunnan Province. It was here that Meili started to paint and draw, with the help of her grandmother and the natural beauty around her. When Meili’s father’s engineering contract ended in Yunnan the family packed their life up and headed back to the Netherlands. Meili kept up her artistic endeavors and eventually went on to study the digital arts. She now lives and works in Leiden.
